I believe that the idea of ‘happily ever after’ can be a damaging one in many ways. People are brought up on stories where the hero and heroine go through adversity of some kind, and then suddenly they find each other and everything after that is perfect. There are no more problems to be overcome and all that they dream of is simply there to be taken and enjoyed.
It’s a beautiful idea, but it makes people start to expect that same thing in their own lives, and then they start to believe that there is a specific point in life that must be reached before true happiness can be obtained. People will spend their lives trying to find this perfect point, and then end up being miserable about what they do have because it isn’t exactly what they expected it to be.
However, I believe that happily ever after is not a place that you come to in your life when you have all that you think you want and nothing in the way of troubles. Happily ever after is when you laugh and love and live your life to the fullest each and every day, despite all of those things that want to bring you down. It’s when you can look at your life and the people in it, and know that you are loved, and that you love in return.
There is really no greater end to any story, than that.

I suppose however, that if I could add one thing to this life to make it ‘happily ever after’, it would be an end to this so called ‘game’ that immortals are forced to play with each other.
