TM ~ Do You Believe In Ghosts?
Feb. 19th, 2007 06:39 pmThe memories are strong enough to drive Darius to his knees. They wash over him one right after the other, leaving him no time to try and find himself before another rolls over the top of him. They aren’t harsh, but like the waves that wash into the shore, they leave a bit of themselves behind as they try and erode away what is already there.
The memories bring with them things that he has never known. Images of people and places that he has never seen flash behind his eyes. Snatches of conversations he has never heard swirl past his ears. Tastes and smells as sharp as any he has ever experienced assault his senses. For what seems an eternity the sensations continue to assault him, threatening to overwhelm his personality. However in truth, only a few moments pass before they begin to fade away, and then the images, sensations, and voices start to quiet under the strength of the General’s will.
Finally Darius slowly gets to his feet, taking a moment to regain his equilibrium as the other immortal’s quickening finally merges with his own. For a few days, the ghosts of the other man’s life will haunt him, but then they will fade away for good, leaving only the strength and power of the quickening in their place.
