There was something soothing about the daily tasks that kept him busy after his return to the church. Simple things that kept his mind and body busy while he tended to the place where he had lived for so long. There was always so much that needed to be done, and so when one thing was completed it was easy to simply start something else and continue on without much thought except for how best to complete the job.
Eventually though, even Immortals need a break from daily chores, even if it is only to eat and sleep. Darius would put it off for as long as he could, but he was still just as human as anyone else in that respect. As much as he might like to keep doing mundane tasks and concentrate on nothing but the needs of the church, it could only last for so long before his body needed to rest. It was then that his mind was free to think about other things, and it was then that his thoughts always turned to Ynez.
He wondered what she was doing, and if she was all right. It had been quite some time since he had heard from her, and he tended to worry quite a bit. He regretted the way that things had been between them when she had left, and wished that he had done so many things differently. He kept hoping that the day would come when she would walk through the door and they could really talk about their relationship, and what it meant to them both. However, every day that passed made that possibility seem further and further away. He still hoped for it, but there was still that small bit of doubt in the back of his mind.
He was human in that respect as well.
