Darius slowly approached the young woman who sat crying in the back of the chapel. She appeared to be one of the homeless that often came into the church to escape the cold, but he rarely saw them in the warmer months.
As he sat down she quickly tried to get to her feet, and he reached out to take her hand in his own. “Stay.”
She shook her head quickly. “I shouldn’t. The things I’ve done…”
Darius smiled softly as he gently encouraged her to sit down again. “It doesn’t matter. The important thing is that you’re here now.”
