A low moan caught the attention of the priest as he moved among the dead and dying. Kneeling in the snow, Darius checked the man’s injuries, then sighed and shook his head sorrowfully. There was nothing to be done that would save him.
As Darius sat there, doing what he could to comfort the man, another soldier paused. “He is the enemy, why do you waste your time?”
“He deserves to be forgiven the same as anyone.”
“That is an opinion I do not share.”
