Life was full of choices. Every choice that was made had an impact. Even something as simple as choosing to go one way instead of another could end up being bigger than anyone could have expected.
Darius could have chosen to stay in Rome. He could have gone south towards Egypt, returned to the Far East, or even gone back to his homeland at the base of the Ural Mountains. However in the end he had chosen to head to Paris.
This choice set him on a path that changed his life forever, and in so doing, changed the world.
