TM - 96 - What is your favorite thing to do to relax?

I have many ways of relaxing, some of which I am sure have been mentioned by others already.

For instance, I too enjoy reading a good book in front of the fire. There is just something about losing myself in a good story that lets all of my cares simply melt away as I envision the world of the book and the people who reside there in my mind. For a little while at least, I can forget about the stress of the day, and enjoy a place far removed from my own.

Another way I relax is to work in my garden. There is something calming and peaceful about working in some small way with nature. I enjoy the year round tasks of planning, planting, tending, and harvesting vegetables and flowers that often help to brighten the day of someone that perhaps needs something to smile about. This allows me to give something of my own relaxation away to others, and that makes it all the better.

And of course, there’s nothing more relaxing that sitting down with a nice cup of tea. The fragrant steam and the warmth that seeps into my fingers from the cup both provide an excellent way for me to relax and let the troubles and problems of the day just slip away. And this particular method of relaxation is even more enjoyable if shared with a friend.

Besides, it's often more conducive to conversation to drink tea rather than scotch.

"Hi Darius," she says softly. "I thought you might like to meet Ashley since it's hard for you to get away from here."

Darius turned at the sound of Arica's voice, then smiled widely as he saw her with the little one. "I am so pleased to see the both of you."

Ashley cooed happily, obviously content.

"I hope it's alright that I brought her..." Arica said. "But we had the afternoon... and the twins are with a friend...

"Of course it's all right. You and your family is always welcome here, you know that." He walks over, leaning in just a bit to get a better look at the baby.

Usually he only gets the opportunity to hold small infants during baptisms, and it has been quite some time since he has had the opportunity to do one of those, so the chance to get to hold one so small is indeed a welcome moment.

He smiles. "I would love too."
