Date: 2005-12-05 02:11 am (UTC)We have only met once, briefly during your bon voyage party. I hope you were refreshed and renewed by your trip.
I recognize the names of some of the composers of the music you chose. They are on the list I have been given of composers whose music I have been told I will enjoy. You chose the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy which I am familiar with because it is part of the Nutcracker Suite which is one of my favorite musical selections!
I am adding the names of the composers I do not recognize to my list so I will remember to find out more about them.
Thank you for sharing.
Yours sincerely,
Lingdian Shi

Date: 2005-12-05 07:26 am (UTC)I remember our meeting well, short though it may have been. I did indeed come back feeling renewed and I thank you for thinking of me.
They are indeed a great list of composers, some of whom are quite dear to my heart. The Nutcracker Suite is also a favorite of mine as well, and I enjoy listening to it quite a lot, especially at this time of year.
If you have any questions regarding any of them, or any others that may be of interest, please, do not hesitate to ask. I may not know a great deal about the world outside of my rectory, but I do have quite a bit of knowledge on classical music of most kinds, and I enjoy sharing the love with others.
Peace be with you,
Darius

Date: 2005-12-05 11:33 pm (UTC)There is a vast array of Western music and I have been told that exposure to the classics will help me to formulate my opinion and taste of more popular music. Thank you for the kind offer and your willingness to share your classical music knowledge. It means a great deal to me.
It is my understanding that you are no longer here in Paris, having moved to to New York. Perhaps one day in the future when I know that I will be visiting New York with André, you might be willing to allow me to visit with you and see your beautiful church.
Yours sincerely,
Lingdian Shi

Date: 2005-12-06 05:59 am (UTC)That is indeed the case, and I would be most honored if you would stop by and see me when time and travel plans allow. Perhaps you can share with me any of the opinions you may have formed on Western Music, as I myself find it to be rather, chaotic most of the time.
Peace be with you,
Darius
