There are always going to be times in a person’s life when they feel alone. Circumstances will arise that cause people to doubt that there is anyone out there who cares about them, or perhaps that even knows that they are alive. Maybe they get into a fight with a friend, and before the “I’m sorry’s” are said, they feel that they will never know friendship again. Or perhaps they lose someone that they love dearly, and a sense of despair and loneliness will close over them that they simply cannot see past.
Then there are those who feel that they are always alone. Perhaps they feel that because there is no one in the world who can see things as they do, or feel things as they do, that there is no way for anyone to ever really understand. Therefore, they always feel a sense of isolation and of being disconnected from everyone around them.
I, on the other hand, believe that the sense of being alone is simply a state of mind. The people who feel alone generally feel that way because they wish to feel that way for one reason or another. Everyone has someone out there thinking about him or her or watching over him or her in one way or another, regardless of how they might feel.
I suppose that what I am really trying to say is that while I have often felt loneliness in my life, and I have sometimes felt isolated in the world, I have always known that I was never truly alone.
