TM - 126 - Write about mother.
May. 17th, 2006 12:52 pmHow is it that you would define a mother?
She is a caregiver. Providing nourishment, comfort, and protection from a world that can often seem harsh and cruel.
She is a guardian. Even the smallest sound in the middle of the night from a child’s room will have her out of her warm bed in an instant to dry tears and to sooth away nightmares
She is a nurse and a miracle worker. Easily curing all manner of childhood hurts, from a fever to a splinter. And turning tears into a smile with nothing more than a simple kiss.
She is a referee and a cheerleader. Always there at her children’s events to make sure that her voice is heard in whatever aspect might be needed at any given time.
She is a taxi driver. Constantly driving her children from one event to another throughout their childhood years.
She is a cook, a maid, and a runner of errands. Constantly on the move to ensure that everyone has their needs well provided for to the best of her ability.
She is a counselor. Trying her best to help her older children through the trials and tribulations associated with being a teenager, despite their belief that they now know more than she does.
She is a consoler. Helping her children through the rough areas of their lives, even once they leave her home and start one of their own.
She is the light in the lives of her children, through the good times, and the bad times.
She is by no means perfect, but she is the embodiment of the kind of person that we should all strive to be throughout our lives.
Self-sacrificing, giving, loving, and trying to always be there for those that may need us the most.

Though how much of it can be attributed to me, and how much was simply how it would have turned out despite me, we'll never know.
