A Retreat...
Jun. 22nd, 2006 12:03 pmDarius’ chosen retreat is quiet, and is lit only by windows high up in stonewalls, and candles whose waxy scent fills the air. It is simply designed, and simply decorated, with little in the way of color other than the natural color of the stone, and the rich browns and gold of the wood that can occasionally be seen throughout. The clean beauty of the rooms comes from the architecture of the building itself, with it’s high ceilings, tall columns, and beautiful arches.
And then there is the feeling that the place gives to those who enter its doors. There is a sense of calm and peace that seems to permeate the rooms, and lighten the hearts of those seeking solace. It is a place full of hope, and one that holds the whispers of centuries of prayers. To walk through its doors is to almost enter a place where for a few moments, time seems to stand still, and all the cares and worries that hold sway over life seem to simply fade away.
