The General Vs. The Priest
Dec. 4th, 2006 12:18 pmThe two sides of Darius, the dark and the light, were not really as different as many people would like to believe. They had different ideals, different goals, and different ways of obtaining those goals. However, the core of who Darius had once been was very evident in the person that he had eventually become.
The General, while dark of nature and oftentimes violent, had a mind that was constantly looking for advantages to any given situation in his search for power. This not only included the battles that he planned and fought in, but also the mind games he would play on those that served his purposes. He had long ago learned that people could be more easily twisted and manipulated than any battle, and that doing so could lead him to his ultimate goals.
The Priest, questing for peace for all of mankind, bared little resemblance to the barbarian that he had once been. However, the way his mind worked had not changed as much as it had simply shifted gears. He still looked several moves ahead in any situation, whether that situation was a game of chess, or helping someone with some problem in their lives. And while he may not have realized exactly what it was he was doing, the priest knew how to manipulate those he talked with so well, that they had no idea what was happening to them. His calming voice, his listening ear, his simple questions, all asked in such a way that they often led the person to the conclusion that Darius had wanted them to reach.
One questing for powers, the other for peace, and they now warred against each other within the body of one man. The question still remains as to who will truly win out in the end.
