“You are nothing special. I will easily find another far more pleasing to my eye, and more worthy of my attentions, in less time than it will take for me to finish this sentence. You have no specific characteristic that drew me to you other than what you could do for me. The fact that you were destined to immortality is nothing more than a coincidence that has to this point worked in my favor, and does nothing to endear you to me. In fact, it makes you even more of an annoyance if anything.
All the whispered words I spoke to you under the blankets, the ones that you held so close to your heart, where simply said to keep you where I wanted you. The secret caresses and the longing looks that I would throw you across the room where an easy way to make you believe that you meant more to me than you did. The gifts that I lavished upon you were mere trinkets when compared to the wealth that will soon be mine. And like you, those trinkets are easily thrown away.
You were nothing but a pawn in the game, to be used as I saw fit until the time came to sacrifice you for a better piece and position. And now that your brother has realized just how important I am to his cause, that time has finally come.
You mean less than nothing to me, Callestina, and for you the game has come to an end.”
ooc: I'm aware that chess wasn't around in it's modern form until long after this time, and that it isn't considered to have been really invented in it's ancient form until around the 6th century. However, I'm taking some liberties with that, cause it's bound to have been around in some form before that, being played in encampments or whatever. Basically, just deal. ;)
