Darius sighed softly as he walked over to his desk and sat down behind it, wondering once again if he was doing the right thing by staying on holy ground. Ever since the run in earlier in the year with Xavier St. Cloud, he had started to think that maybe it was time to take a more involved approach to life again. Perhaps it was even time to give up his life in the priesthood all together. He had found himself wishing for some sort of sign, something to tell him what it was that he should do, and where it was he should go from here.
Suddenly Darius glanced up, taken out of his thoughts by the sound of someone moving through the church. He got to his feet and moved to the door, opening it and starting slightly at the group of men that stood there. Two of the men grabbed him by the arms and pulled him out into the chapel, despite his struggles, then threw him to the ground.
Rising to his hands and knees, Darius slowly looked up as he heard the sound of a sword being drawn. He put a hand up as he watched the sword being lifted over his head, tried to talk to the man and make him see the error of what he was about to do, but it made no difference. The man simply said one word, abomination, and let the sword fall.
