on_holy_groundIt is amazing sometimes, how much a single death can change things. I don’t say that to be crass, because a single death always changes things for the friends and family of the person that died. However, sometimes a death can bring about the kind of change that touches the entire world.
Emrys was someone that I got to know very intimately only after his life was over. It was only then that I came to realize that he was a man of exceptional wisdom and insight. His soul was one that was full of so much light, that any darkness was simply swallowed whole. My darkness was swallowed whole.
If I had not met him, then my life would be very different, and likely so would the lives of many other people. I would have continued on my chosen path of conquest and perhaps ruled a large empire. This would have changed not only lives, but the course of human history as well.
Emrys taught me more in the space of an instant than I have learned over the entire course of the rest of my life, and I only wish that I hadn’t had to kill him in order to understand his message.
