on_holy_groundWhen your muse really, really wants something, how do they go about getting it? Are they plotters? Are they patient? Or do they throw a fit? Is there something that they want right now, and you can’t understand it? Talk about your muse and how they go about getting what they really want.
Darius is the most patient muse that I have ever had the pleasure of working with over the years. He doesn’t yell, plot, throw fits fit for a teenage drama queen, threaten to stop writing, or any of the other methods that various other pups of mine have used over the years to get what they want. He simply tells me what he wants and why, then he waits for me to get around to seeing what his side of things.
Now, the priest generally doesn’t want things very often, at least not for himself. He tends to pretty much just go with the flow of what other people want or need from him instead. However, all of that has changed a bit since I decided to play with his darker side for a while.
The general does want things, and he isn’t quite as patient. He is a constant presence at the back of my mind, prodding at me to get what he wants. They are just little mental pushes that are rather like one of those mosquito bites that won’t stop itching. He doesn’t scream or plot either, but he definitely lets me know that he’s going to keep up that little itch until he gets what he’s after.
Right now, Darius is a bit of a cross between the two. The priest is seeping back into his personality a little bit at a time, and mellowing out the general. However, the itch is still there. Darius wants something for himself for the first time in centuries, and he’s not willing to give that idea up.
I don’t get it really, except that I do, which I know doesn’t make much sense. Darius has discovered that he’s in love, and while I’m more than ready to get him back on track to being just the priest, I’m not sure at this point if he will allow me to do so. Right now, he has just enough of the priest in his mind to keep him being somewhat calm and more gentle than he was at first, but not enough to keep him from pursuing this idea of love. He has no qualms about it, because he feels that there is no reason that he should still be tied to his vows. I however, have some trepidation because of who he is and not wanting to have anyone end up getting hurt should things change down the road.
I suppose we’ll just have to see how things end up working out.
