Money is not the root of all evil. Money is instead a means of transaction. It is a method of exchange between two or more people that is much simpler and cleaner than carrying items around with you in order to trade. If it were indeed the root of all evil, then absolutely nothing good could come from the use of money.

The actual saying, and one that is often misquoted by believers and nonbelievers alike, is spoken by Paul in the book of 1 Timothy 6:10. “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.” Now complete, this quote’s meaning has changed completely.

Therefore, if one were to reevaluate the quote from this perspective, it could be said that it is actually love that is the root of all kinds of evil. Not just the love of money, but the love of a great many things. It could be the love of power, knowledge, or anything else that a person chooses to put first before all others in their lives.

My belief is that it is love that is actually the root of a great many things, both good and evil. It is a passion that can rule over us, or that we can rule over, depending on our own strengths and weaknesses. Like anything else in life, it is how we choose to use our love that determines which direction it will go.

"I am someone who definitely does not believe that money is evil. However, I do believe that love is of a wholly gentler side of our nature. Am I correct in saying that you see inner strength as what really controls and affects these two very different things? I ask because that is how I perceive your remarks and I am not sure I understand that way of thinking. I would ask you, is love evil? Is wealth evil? Or is it envy and desire that make them thus?"

ooc: He and I adored the post he's just pondering to Darius out loud.

"That is precicely what I am saying, actually. There is very little that is either inherently good, or inherently evil. It is the way we choose to look at something and how we use it that makes something that way. Love may be the gentler side of our nature, that much is true, but even love can be evil if it is used that way."

"I see... " He was in more agreement now that it was clear what the other man meant. "There are plenty of times when people use other's feeling against them. It is a pitiful thing. But it can be effective as well. I think that for as many times as it goes badly, there are times it benefits all. What do you think?"

Darius considered Korda's words carefully before answering. "There are times when it can be useful, but it can also be a double edged sword. It is a delicate process, working with emotions, and in the end it can also turn around and bite the one who tries to do so if they are not careful."

He grinned and then chuckled. "Being bitten from one's own manipulation of things is always painful." His grin subsided. "You are correct though, and I have to say, that for as long as I live, the lessons learned still are forgotten at times with it comes to love. It is just that way for me." His head tilted and then he peered up at the sky and smiled broadly.

Darius smiled and nodded a bit, a soft look on his face. "I believe that of all the things in this world that we take for granted, it is love and all that we learn from love that would rank highest on the list."

He wasn't certain he ever took love for granted but understood exactly what Darius meant. "Live and learn," he chuckled the words out. "Live to learn is more like it."

He laughs softly. "Indeed."
