Meme - With Love From Everyone
Jan. 26th, 2008 04:53 pmReply to this post with anything you'd like and I'll tell you why I friended you and two things I love about how you play your muse. The only catch? You have to repost this as well.

These are the things that tend to pull me into a character's world and make me want to know more about them. I'm not real good at that sort of thing myself, so I really appreciate it when another writer can do it so well.
2. I have nothing but massive amounts of respect for writer's who can take on a character who's canon is still so open. The fact that you can bring in the current elements in her story so smoothly is something I wish I could do.

Date: 2008-01-26 10:46 pm (UTC)Darius was practically the first person in the TM-verse that Ynez talked to, partly for IC reasons -- she would talk to a priest when she was new in the neighborhood -- and for OC reasons -- you struck me as a sane person who made an effort to keep true to Darius's character. At the time, I remember that a lot of different pups were trying to seduce him, and you just didn't go there.
None of this should come as any news, but that integrity is one of the things I love about the way you play your muse (even if Ynez is going insane because of it these days). I love your attention to detail, too, and the subtle things you come up with that lend depth to the character. I might not say anything, but I do notice. You're more of a writer than you give yourself credit for, I think.
I think also that you're better for the community as a whole than is often recognized. It's not just that you're a reliable RPer -- I can always count on you to reply and, srsly, whoever can count on that anymore? -- you're also unfailingly kind to people, including some that I myself would gladly kick in the head.

Date: 2008-01-27 06:03 pm (UTC)Well, I believe the friending started with you, but we would have friended Ynez anyway. She is such a beautifully complex character, and so very real. Reading her journal I think has actually done quite a bit to help me in my own writing style, which I am very grateful for, by the way. :)
I love the fact that your not afraid to have Ynez get upset over the small stuff. The fact that little things bother her, and you let them bother her, has always been one of the things I've loved about her. A lot of people try to gloss over that kind of thing or don't bother with writing it for whatever reason, and I adore the fact that you don't do that sort of thing. We all do it in real life, so having her do it in game makes things that much more real.
Also, the fact that you e-mail me to talk to me about things that are going on is great. I mean there's no way we could rp out all the stuff that happens, but you always ask me what I think about the things going on between them and don't assume how it's going. You are probably one of the few people that I would trust to move my Darius around as needed for things between our pups, and yet you never take advantage of that fact.
Oh yes, and you put up with the fact that I'm slow as molasses in January at times, and don't complain. *lol*

Date: 2008-01-29 02:57 pm (UTC)I honestly don't know all that much about his canon, but there is a lot of depth there that I could see just from the little bit of interaction our pups have had together. You do a good job of bringing out the darker side of the pup, and yet showing that sense of vulnerability that I see in him. I really like seeing the different sides and how they combine to form the whole.
The interlude at the club was a moment that really helped me to define part of who Darius was as the General. It allowed for me to see both how he was the same, and how he was different from the priest. I don't think I would have had that opportunity if not for the time spent with Anson. So the fact that you were willing to work with me in that setting was wonderful! I think a lot of people were not sure how to approach him because of who he was and yet your pup was more than willing to play.
Also, am rather curious to see how Anson and Darius will react with each other now that Darius has reverted back to his gentler, priestly nature. :)

Wow, I had no idea the interlude at the club was so pivotal for Darius. That makes me feel so proud and so good! I am kind of in awe of him as a character and just getting to put Anson in with him was and is a total thrill.

Yeah? Oh, we have to do something then. I'd love it!

Date: 2008-01-30 04:00 pm (UTC)Darius is in Rome at the moment, again, and has some plans to stay in Europe for a time. However, I'm sure we can work something out, especially as I believe he'll have to come back to New York soon to take care of some things here. I'm sure he'll probably contact Anson, considering he still has the number and he'll probably want to apologize for what happened. *lol*

Date: 2008-01-30 07:09 pm (UTC)Sure, we can do whatever you like. Anson's never met the priest Darius so he'll probably be a little awestruck at first, like wha?
Apologize for what? Strapping him? Anson doesn't have any hard feelings about that. He respects Darius and knows what he was trying to accomplish there.

Date: 2008-01-30 04:07 pm (UTC)First of all, you give so much depth to the character. His episodes were the only ones I ever watched from the spin-off, and I loved him to death then. The way you delve into his past and what made him who he is and still keep him so in character, is just amazing. I only wish I had that much capability when it comes to fleshing out the past of my own muses.
Also, I love how he walks that gray line between good and evil. He has elements of both, and you have no problems bringing that out in him. I love how he has so much passion, and yet can be so calm and collected. It makes him so much fun to work with in game as well as just reading him. Darius loves having someone to talk to that he can really explore things with on a more intellectual level as well.

Date: 2008-01-31 01:55 pm (UTC)Your understanding of him reinforces my desire to continue. You see clearly! It makes it enjoyable to do this kind of character when I have outstanding writers to collaborate with and working with Darius truly brings out some of my guys better points, we appreciate that so very much. For your insightfulness and kindness I am grateful and thank you.*g*

Date: 2008-02-03 08:56 pm (UTC)She has so much of a sense of childlike wonder about her and the fact that she is as old as she is (no offense, Cee!) makes it all the more interesting. It gives her that unique touch, and makes her a real joy for me to read.
I love how she has her own voice that isn't like anyone else's. I could never mistake her for anyone other than herself, and sometimes I know that can be difficult for a writer. I really look forward to some more interaction between her and Darius especially, as well as with Wes. Darius is honestly as fascinated by her as he is with Korda. She reminds him that there is still a sense of innocence in the world.
