RP - Visitor [locked to x_van_helsing_x and backdated]

Darius was doing his evening rounds in the chapel, making sure everything was tidy and ready for the next day, when he heard the familiar sound of the door opening. Turning from his work at the alter, Darius walked slowly down the center aisle towards the man that was now standing just inside the doorway.

"Can I help you?"

Darius nods slightly, then realizes that the man likely didn't see as his eyes were trained on the floor in front of his feet.

His voice is soft as he responds, "Of course. Would you like to have a seat here, or would you prefer someplace a little less...open."

He looks around a little. "Is there somewhere else?"

"I can take you back to my rectory if you would prefer."

He nods. "Thank you."

And he'll follow wherever Darius leads.

Darius takes him through the chapel and back to the rectory, leading him inside and then gesturing to a table that is in the middle of the room, more or less.

"Please, have a seat."

He thanks him again and sits; he probably doesn't look very comfortable, but he doesn't feel very comfortable.

"How should I begin?" he asks, glancing up at Darius for a moment.

Darius moves to take a seat in the chair across from him, putting them both on the same level.

"Generally the best place to start, is at the beginning."

"The beginning. Yes. Of course."

He doesn't look at Darius.

"I've apparently hurt someone that I care about."

It's easier than starting where he started with said someone.

He keeps his voice soft, "in what manner?"

"I've done something. Something that I'm not sure I realized was wrong, at the time."

He's distant. Very.

Darius doesn't like the sound of the man's voice, the way he seems to be almost detached from what he is talking about. It worries him.

"Perhaps if you gave me some background, and told me about what happened leading up to the event."

"Yes." He seems to come out of a daze. "I'm sorry, Father. I was sitting in my room and a woman stopped by. I assumed she was there just to talk, but now, I believe she had... other... intentions."

"I see. I assume from the way you worded that, that the woman was someone that you were already aquainted with. What happened that made you believe that it was something other than conversation that she wanted?"

He looks up suddenly. "Actually, no. Or, maybe. I think I'd spoken to her once before." He frowns and looks away again for a moment, then back. As he speaks his voice is sharp, harsh, "Perhaps the fact that she touched me, kissed me, removed my clothing. Or maybe it was the sex after that."

He blinks, startled that he had made such an outburst. He looks down at the table again. "I'm sorry, that was... I didn't mean for it to..." He gets to his feet. "Maybe I should go."

Darius puts his hand out, wanting to stop him from leaving.

"Don't go. This is obviously something that you need to talk about, and I have heard much worse outbursts in my confessional than this one, I can assure you."

He nods and, slowly, returns to the chair, almost falling into it - tiredly.

He's quiet for a long time, then, "I'm not even sure how it happened. She was talking to me, telling me things, touching me. Feelings. Deep, hidden away, instinctual feelings." He looks up. "Things I didn't know I knew how to feel."

He looks away again. "I don't remember very much of my life. I haven't been around many people over the last several years, so, I suppose I'm not very good at recognizing true intentions on a more personal level."

"You experienced the same kinds of feelings all men in that position would have felt. Hidden or not, they are there and always will be, as they are indeed very instinctual. You are still human after all."

He looks at the man before him, starting to wonder of perhaps there is something more that he should know about the man before him.

"Even people who have been around others all their lives cannot recognize such things. Although if you don't remember your past, it can be much harder to gauge that sort of thing I am sure."

There is almost a silent question in that last statement.

"Yes, I suppose. But... Anna..." He trails off again and is quiet, as though upset by something.

He looks at Darius. "Did you have a question, Father?"

"Anna, is that the name of the woman in your room?"

His other question can wait for the moment.

"No," he says softly. "She's the one I hurt."

Darius nods slowly, "I see, was she hurt because of what happened with the woman in your room, or is there something else?"

"Yes. That. I told her about that. And, she left."


He looks up again. "I... I don't know what to do."


Most of his 'problems' he can handle with a weapon - vampires, werewolves, whatever - you kill them, they're gone. This - he doesn't know how to deal with.

"Were you and Anna involved in a romantic relationship, or were you simply friends?"

"I think we were trying to figure that out."

Darius nods slowly. Relationships are a complicated thing, especially romantic ones, and not something that he has had a whole lot of experience with in the past.

"Did you talk to her, explain what had happened?"
