There had been no choice, or so Darius told himself once it was all over. Grayson would not have stopped until he had destroyed everyone that the priest had ever mentored. People who had done nothing other than try to learn about a different way of life, and whose only crime had been in knowing him. In the end, killing Grayson had been the only thing that Duncan could have done to stop the slaughter of more innocents.
Yet the loss of the man who had once been his second in command weighed heavily on Darius’ soul. In fact, he felt as though he had himself been the one to lower the sword and thus end a life that had spanned centuries. A life that had encompassed experiences, thoughts, and memories that were now lost to the world. Even though Grayson’s power now lived on in Duncan, so much of what he had been was gone forever, and Darius couldn’t help but to blame himself.
There were so many things that he could have done differently at the beginning. Ways that would not have had to end with bloodshed and the loss of so much more than just a life. There should have been a way to change the mind of a man that he had once called friend. It should have never have gotten to the point where there was nothing left to do but destroy.
In the end though, what he could have done or should have done made no difference. He had not done enough to keep it from happening, and thus he would simply have to learn to live with the final results.

Just a thought, only if you want... would you like to try a 'past' thread? Maybe with Cass, or whoever you might think would be best? And by 'past' I mean something set back either a few years ago, or centuries, whichever?
In the case of Cass, if you want, it could be say before 'Bordeaux', when she's still not 'reconciled' with the Horsemen? Like I said, it's just a thought, and purely up to you if you want. If you want to give it a go and it doesn't help then by all means you can pull the pin on it.
