Questions from [livejournal.com profile] aoutlaw321

Ghost? Real or not?

I believe that they exist, but I also believe that a vast majority of ‘sightings’ are probably hoaxes.

What are your pet peeves?

Argumentative people tend to bother me on occasion, although I have had lots of practice dealing with them so it doesn’t bother me as much as it used too. Also, people who come to talk to me, and then don’t say much of anything as though they think I can read minds. It makes things harder than they need to be.

Who is your favorite woman in the bible?

Mary Magdalene. I have always felt that she is often greatly misunderstood.

Do you sleep with your socks on?

When it is cold, then I do on occasion, but not normally.

[locked to immortals] Do you believe in the game?

No. I don’t believe that there is anything to be gained from the almost ritualistic murder of our own kind and I find it hard to believe in anything that has no starting point that anyone knows of. Or if they do, they are not saying. [/lock]

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] liyavicuska [locked to those who know of Darius' immortality]

Exactly how old are you?

About 2000 years old, give or take a few years.

Where did you grow up?

The plains just east of the Ural Mountains, I believe that it is close to what is now called Germany.

How did you find out about your gift of long life?

I found another like me who taught me about what I am.

If you could wish for one thing, what would it be?

Peace.

How do you know Edmond?

After he had his vengeance on those who had wronged him, he came to my church to confess his sins.[/lock]

Questions for [livejournal.com profile] eric_weiss

Why the hell do you help people like me who screw up royally?

Because we all make mistakes and if I help someone then perhaps they will help someone in turn, and it will lead to more people helping people, which is something that we need more of in this world.

Why DO bad things happen to good people?

Because God gave us free will, and the choices of others can affect our lives negatively, because sometimes people are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time, and because some things are simply a matter of natural law, which God does not interfere with.

Haven't you ever wanted to get married and have kids?

The thought has crossed my mind in the past, but it is not something that I felt was my purpose in being, and so I do not dwell on it.

What do you do when no one's there confessing and junk?

I enjoy playing chess, visiting with friends, and working on models.

What's the greatest gift you could get?

The knowledge that the people I care about are at peace.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] jordansmuse

How do you have faith in something you can't see?

That’s all faith is, believing in something that you can’t see, or touch, and yet you know that it is there just the same. It’s a lot like love really, you can’t see love, and yet it is all around you. You simply know it is there because you feel it.

What made you decide to become a priest? Or do you believe in that call thing?

I saw a monk comforting a dying man. There was a look of such peace on the man’s face, that I felt the need to know more. Eventually that led me to where I am now, as I wished to help others find that same kind of peace.

Did you ever consider life outside the priesthood?

Yes, a long time ago.

Chocolate or vanilla?

Vanilla

How do you deal with people who don't have any faith? I mean, what can you do/say to convince me them that there is a God?

Everyone is different, and so there isn’t anything in particular I can say to convince everyone. Many people, who come to me and say they don’t have faith, are simply looking for someone to give it to them. Faith isn’t something I can give, and I don’t try to convince them that it exists as much as I ask them why it is that they lack faith and then I answer their questions about God to the best of my ability. After that, they must make their own choice on whether they want to believe, or whether they want to continue on without believing.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] blondewatcher

Which do you like best in the Choir of angels: Seraphim, Cherubim, Thrones, Dominions, Virtues, Powers, Principalities, Archangels or Angels.

Angels are my favorite, as they are the closest to those of us who live on Earth and are the most caring of the choir.

What is the most wonderful, thing you have experienced, felt, seen, in terms of been a man, not from the viewpoint of a Priest?

The birth of a child has to be the most wonderful thing I have ever seen. To see a new life being brought into the world…

There is nothing to compare to it in my eyes.

What’s your favourite church duty as a Priest: Confession, Baptism, Confirmation, Marriage, or Funerals?

Marriage is probably my favorite of the duties that I perform. To join two people’s lives together in such a way always brings me great joy.

What would the Devil tempt you with?

The complete and unconditional love of someone.

Food craving-the wicked over the top indulgence kind, what’s yours? And no Tea, does not count as wicked over the top indulgence food.

Home made vanilla ice cream. The kind that has to be churned by hand for hours.

[locked to those who know about Darius immortality]
What is the most rewarding thing about being immortal?

I think the most rewarding thing is the chance to watch the world change and unfold around me. To be able to see the advances that man has gone through as the years have progressed. To be able to live through the beauty that each age has gone through.

What is the most tragic thing about being immortal?

Perhaps it is ironic, but it is this same thing that is the most tragic thing about immortality. In order to see the beauty, we must also see the destruction that man has wrought through the ages. We must watch those that we love and care for grow old and die with each passing year, and we must do it over and over again.
[/lock]

What is the first thing you'd like to hear God say when you reach heaven?

"Well done."

Judas Iscariot - villain or scapegoat?

Neither. I believe that Judas was simply a man who was chosen to do God’s work, just as you were and just as I was. Someone had to be the one to betray Jesus, it was his job to do so, whether he wanted it or not.

What color is your soul?

Blue. The color of peace, comfort, and faithfulness.

Questions from [livejournal.com profile] samwisegardener

What is your favorite flower (I'm a bit biased toward gardening type questions, you see)

That is a difficult question, but I would have to say that my favorite is the iris.

What is your favorite song or tale?

My favorite song is Mozart’s Requiem in d-minor, and my favorite tale is The Odyssey

What is the most joyful experience you've ever had?

I once had a young friend. He must have been no more than 6 years old, and he often came to visit me in the church with his mother. One afternoon the child was restless and I offered to take him out back to the grounds while his mother said her prayers.

We spent an hour lying on the grass and looking up into the sky as he showed me all the wonderful animals and castles that he saw in the clouds. It had been a long time since I had looked at the world through the eyes of a child, and it is an experience I treasure very much.

Who is your truest friend?

I have many people that I consider to be close friends, but I would have to say that my truest friend is Duncan MacLeod.

If you could ask Eru any question, what would you be wanting to know?

I would want to know why I was allowed to come back from death.

I pledged my word to protect something more than 2000 years ago... Am I still bound to do that?

Date: 2005-03-05 05:49 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] on-holy-ground.livejournal.com
You are bound to uphold your promise for as long as that promise holds meaning to you. If the reason for the promise has become void, or the importance of why you made the promise has lessened, or perhaps if you simply no longer care about why you made the promise in the first place, then I would say you are no longer bound to uphold it after all this time.

However, if it's still important to you for some reason, no matter how small that reason may be, then I would think you should still try to uphold it.

I am under this obligation forever then. That thing in Pandora's Box hardly lost its strenght... And the answer just raised more questions, padre.
Saving million lives, would authorize you to kill people or confront with the one you called brother once?
Strange, Methos might asked these question in Bordeaux. A penny for his answers.

Getting him to give a straight answer about anything is a difficult process, and even then you would be left wondering.

I would think however, that in some circumstances, you would have to think of the greater good. Saving millions of lives at the risk of hurting others is not an easy choice, and yet there are times when it must be made, as much as the thought of it disturbs me.

That is of course assuming there are no other alternatives.

No, there aren't. It's about Pandora's Box. I was with Alexander when he had opened... and witnessed the destruction that thing caused. The Great took my word to take care of the Box.
It was stolen from the Cradle of the Life last year and the track led me here, to New York.
I have offered a fortune for Box... even asked my brother's help to make the thief to see reason. In vain.

You know me, padre, I have no problems to kill anyone but this person is Caspian's friend and I promised him not to hurt that damn Scot.

Thanks for answering.

Um...not to get into it...but in my case it was seeing my mother lying dead on the living room floor when I was ten. She'd been murdered.

Date: 2005-03-05 04:26 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] on-holy-ground.livejournal.com
A childhood trauma of that kind would shake the faith of anyone.

From: [identity profile] jordansmuse.livejournal.com
*nods slowly*

And then Father MacAulay told me at the wake that it was God's will...that Mom was with God. But I don't see how God would think taking a mother away from a daughter would be a good thing.

And...and the morning it happened, I'd told her I didn't need her. I never got to tell her I was sorry.

Date: 2005-03-05 04:44 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] on-holy-ground.livejournal.com
I would think it was more the choice of the person who killed her than it was God's will myself. I am sure though, that wherever your mother is, she knows that you're sorry for what you said in the heat of a moment.

Date: 2005-03-05 04:46 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jordansmuse.livejournal.com
Woody says that too. That she knows. I wish I could believe it really. It's just...hard.

Date: 2005-03-05 04:59 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] on-holy-ground.livejournal.com
Is it really harder to believe that she knows? Or is it harder to believe that she doesn't?

Date: 2005-03-05 08:47 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jordansmuse.livejournal.com
That she could be aware of anything wherever she is.

Date: 2005-03-05 10:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] jordansmuse.livejournal.com
I'm not sure where she'd be. Or that the dead are in any shape to hear us.

Date: 2005-03-05 10:42 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] on-holy-ground.livejournal.com
Perhaps, but I would still think it would be easier on you to believe that she does know, than to believe that she doesn't.

From: [identity profile] jordansmuse.livejournal.com
I just wish I'd been able to tell her.
