TM - 66 - What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?

Darius slowly got to his feet, not even glancing at the sword lying in the dirt beside him. Instead he brought his hands up and looked at them for a long moment, almost as though he expected them to be different somehow, as he himself was somehow different. His hands however remained the same calloused, blood stained hands that he had always had, except that now the sight of that blood sickened him in a way that it never had before.

He took a slow breath, wondering at the new feelings that had seemed to take over the moment he had taken the quickening of the Holy Man, and knowing that somehow his life from this moment on would have to change, and change dramatically. Darius knew what the first step to that change was, but for a moment, the thought of taking that step filled him with another emotion that he was unfamiliar with, a feeling that clenched his heart and stomach in a vice.

Darius was afraid, afraid of the consequences of what he was about to do, and yet even more afraid of the consequences of not doing it. However regardless of the fear, he knew it was something that must be done. And so he turned and slowly made his way back to the encampment, back to tell his men that it was over.

The scariest thing that ever happened to me was change, and facing up to the responsibilities that change brought to me.

How do you face up to waking to a world that has been created but you never lived in?

The answer is simple enough, even if the execution of the answer isn't always. I simply had to take it one step at a time, one day at a time, until the world I had inherited had become my own.

Regardless of whether you are supposed to be here or not, you are here, and therefore you must make a life for yourself. Just remember that you do not have to live someone else's in order to make your own.

I can understand your need to question yourself, but the moment you came to live and breath you also started creating new memories. Memories that belong to no one other than you.

*frowns* I saw Cassandra not to long ago, just after she arrived. I admit to being confused at the time since I had that conversation with you about her earlier. It makes more sense now.

*concerned* How are you holding up?

It's been a while since she's been here to see Darius, but she's been wanting to talk to him again. Fatigue shows on her face and she looks as if she's in pain. She looks around the church, intially not seeing him.

Having recently finished talking with a couple who were going to be getting married soon, Darius wasn't in the chapel when she arrived. However as soon as he saw Arica upon entering, he made his way over to her.

"Arica, is everything all right?"

"Hi Darius." She smiles at seeing him, relaxing. "A lot has happened since we last talked."

"It has been a long time since you have been in to see me, so I can imagine that a lot would have happened. Is there something you wish to talk about specifically?"

"I was kidnapped again," she whispered softly.

Darius looks at her, a slightly shocked expression on his face, then he puts a hand gently on her back. "Why don't we sit down, and you can tell me what happened."

She nods her head, flinching at his touch. She's not afraid of him, she's just afraid. She sits in a chair. "Eric wanted to come, but I asked him to let me come here alone. Well, at least come inside alone."

Darius clasped his hands together and let them rest on his lap. "Tell me what happened?"
